The Pinque Story

The story of Pinque Pearls relates back to the UAE's historical roots. Prior to the discovery of oil, the UAE's main source of income for most Emirati families was based on pearl diving and the pearl trade.

With the discovery of oil, as well as the discovery of how to make pearls artificially in the early 1900's, the practice of pearl diving naturally declined. It is however still deeply embedded in the UAE's national history and the memory of its' residents.

The Pinque brand is an homage to the UAE's pearling history as well as its' present. Modern, clear lines of jewellery represent the UAE's present - a forward-thinking country that embraces change and has a positive outlook on the future. The Southsea pearls found in each piece of Pinque jewellery represent the UAE's cultural pearling heritage.

Pinque jewellery seeks to continue to support the local economy that has formed the brand. For this reason,

the entire jewellery range is exclusively made in the UAE.

Of course, the Pinque story also has a relevance to its' founder, Chris Ege's, and her link to life in Australia, where she discovered her passion for the ocean and for Southsea pearls. When she moved to the UAE, she soon discovered the link between saltwater pearls and the UAE's pearling heritage, and the idea of Pinque pearls was born.

Pinque also understands that each pearl is as unique and authentic as its’ wearer, and this uniqueness is what we specialise in: To bring out the natural beauty of a pearl within a piece of jewellery.

This uniqueness inspired the birth of this brand – with its’ name being a combination of the words ‘Pinctada Maxima’ – the Southsea Pearl oyster, and unique – pointing out that each pearl is different in size, colour, shine and shape.

For this reason, Pinque doesn’t focus on 100% flawless, perfectly round shaped pearls – we sell high quality Southsea pearls that showcase the beauty of a genuine, valuable and natural product, coming in different shapes and sizes. In order to ensure that true beauty is captured in all of our pieces, all pearls we sell are of high quality lustre.

This is how we desire to make each jewellery piece produced as unique and beautiful as their wearer.

Our range follows clean lines and white, bright, white and silver coloured pearls to showcase the purity that comes from the ocean in form of a natural pearl.

We aspire towards creating pieces that are uplifting for their wearer, enhance her sense of identity, and show pride in wearing a precious and unique gemstone created by nature/the ocean.

The Pinque collection is currently available exclusively via the online store, out of which we endeavour to ship worldwide.

All bespoke design can be adjusted to your preference – be it 18k Gold, Platinum or Sterling Silver, featuring white, black or golden Southsea pearls – we can customise according to your requirements.
